About The Project
In the state of Jharkhand Manthan Yuva Sansthan had been taken up several development communication initiatives in association of NFI, New Delhi. In development communication, with NFI, initiatives in three prone strategies had been developed in Bihar and Jharkhand since a decade of partnership.
The creation of socially sensitive and development oriented journalist is our first strategy through orientation and capacity building exercises among them.

The implementation of the project is based on three prone strategies:
- Creation of a cadre of socially sensitive and development oriented journalist through orientation and capacity building exercises.
- creation of a dedicated editorial desk to provide regular background support so that they can be able to understand development dynamics.
- Development and production of A/V stories and half an hour episodes on key development issues of the marginalized communities.
The main objective of this project is :
- To identify, orient and build capacity on skill and knowledge to understand the grassroot issues and their production in A/V format.
- To strengthen the formal relationship with different A/V media houses to enhance the coverage of marginalized communities and their issues.
- To create a group of dedicated cadres of electronic journalist and production of footage, video spots and stories in electronic format and their coverage in electronic media.
- To create an institutional arrangement in the form of state level development journalist network.
Methodology:
- Active involvement of all the stakeholders.
- Orientation & training of informal health providers a key Resource.
- IEC materials in local languages.
- Schedule for vision screening camps and eye check up.
- Referral services.
- Product & services knowledge and their availability accessibility to urban slum population



Activities Organized:
Orientation and Capacity Building :
The project started with orientation and capacity building on people’s issues i.e, water, health, scientific temperament, etc. video journalism, skill, knowledge building and production of A/V magazine on key issues related to marginalized communities.
- An orientation and capacity building programme was held on 21-22 August, 2015 at Manthan Auditoriam, Ranchi.
- An orientation and capacity building programme on development journalism was held on 16th December, 2015 at Manthan Auditorium, Ranchi.
- An orientation programme on development reporting /jouranalism was held on 18th June2016 at Manthan Auditorium.
Outcomes:
A network of 150 development journalists has been developed and activated them on writing and raising the contemporary issues by using these three strategies which leads towards media advocacy for policy and programmatic amendment and development.
