About The Project
Over one and half decades Manthan built human and institutional capacities of NGOs and community based organizations, citizen leaders, elected representatives and media in Jharkhand and Bihar. Strengthening individual and institutional capacities is a continuous and ongoing process, which builds on the needs and knowledge of the individuals and organizations involved. Manthan follows participatory and innovative training methodology in all its capacity building programs. The approach focuses on need based motivational learning through experience and practice, combined with clarity on generic concepts.
The main objective of this project is :
- Provide the most marginalized groups with access to quality education and skill for gainful livelihood.
- Offer education for drop outs and to those who have never been to school to reintegrate students back into the formal education system.
- Provide a platform for safe and secure environment conducive to learning & training..


Manthan is an accredited institution of NIOS, GOI for secondary course since 1999. At the Manthan Head Office campus myriad education programmes run including an Opportunity for Drop Out/Failure students (NIOS) to re-take their secondary board examination. About hundred students enrolled each year under the NIOS programme. Most of the students have taken admission in schools and colleges to complete their further education. Manthan Seva School’s inclusive enrolment strategy has continued to improve literacy rates of the most marginalized groups in the target blocks. Manthan Swva School successfully runs in Ormanjhi block of Ranchi District and at Lohardaga. Manthan runs a residential School specially mend for Particularly Vulnerable Tribes (PVTG) since a decade. The school is supported by Tribal Welfare Commissioner Office, GOJ in the Gumla District reaching out to children who may never otherwise have a formal education.
Under Skill development program a dedicated section has been created at head office. Currently Retail, Hospitality, Beauty Culture, Garment making and Handloom & Handicrafts and courses Vocational IT Courses in Desk Top Publishing & Diploma in Computer Application (NIOS) are offered to students and drop out youths. A Special Coaching & Career Guidance course is also held for SC and ST to enhance their job opportunities in different sectors. 06
