About The Project

Special Coaching & Career Guidance (Labour & Employment Department, Government of India) is provided by Manthan students from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). The Director General of Employment & Training selects 30 students to receive a special coaching course over a period of 11 months, covering General English, General Awareness, General Mathematics and Clerical Aptitude. Manthan’s experienced course delivery means that the students are equipped with the necessary skills they need to make successful job applications. The project helps promote greater equality particularly for women, where the competitive pressures make it hard to get an inroad when applying for jobs such as the clerical roles under the Staff Selection Commission, accounting, banking and railway sector positions. Students can learn to type in English and Hindi. Type writers are cost effective to maintain and require no power, so dedicated students can practice anytime. It is quite a challenge to learn typing using the keys but when students use a computer keyboard they will see how their hard work pays off.

Case Study:

“I am belonging to ST and my name is Sandeep. I am living in Solanki. I completed my graduation in 2007 but faced difficulties finding a job. I saw advertisement for vocational training and submitted my application form for the course. By the grace of God I was selected for the course! The course lasted for 11 months and I learned many techniques to face the competitive exam. I still can’t believe that I passed the Banking Service Recruitment Board (B.S.R.B.), Patna and secured a job as a Clerk”.
