About The Project
A dedicated desk regularly conduct research and study on development issues related to poor and marginalized communities. The area of research and study mainly focuses on PRIs, Transparency & Accountability, Media, Tribal Rights, and Gender Issues etc.
Manthan seeks to give vision to efforts to enable effective advocacy through publication of documentation and electronic media. Publications in local and tribal languages have had the impact of making communities aware for the first time of their rights and how to access them. Documentaries on our projects have been distributed India and globally to raise the awareness regarding how Manthan is tackling the plight of the most marginalized people in the state.
The main objective of this project is :
- Explore dynamics of development within the geographical and programmatic areas.
- Undertake research to better understand grass roots development and its effect on communities..
- Influencing change agents such as the media, academics and the state through advocacy using from research and study output.

- 150 Development and Science Journalist's groups have been formed.
- 2000 Panchayat elected representatives have been trained.
- 700 print and 200 video stories have been published and transmitted.
- 100 Kishori Groups have been created.
- 1500 IFR have been settled with the support of Simdega administration.
- Reaches more than 1 million voter's under PEVAC campaign.
- Safe and sustainable supply of drinking water in 50 Gram Panchayats in tribal areas of Jharkhand.
- Access to sanitation services for 2000 rural poor settlements in Lohardaga and Garwah districts.
- Maternal health services utilization and institutional births increased by 30% in 3 no. of Gram Panchayats in Lohardaga districts of Rajasthan.
- 400 no. of Kitchen Garden have been developed by Kishori groups created and developed by Manthan.
- 20. no. of study have been conducted on various issues related to rights and entitlements of marginalized communities.
- 1000 hours audio programme have been developed and broadcast.
- State wide network of citizens under the banner of Jharkhand Election watch (JEW) have been initiated for political reforms in the state..
- Manthan Yuva Sansthan is a founding member of Jharkhand Panchayat Resource Centre..
- Almost 400 PRIs attainded the trainig during post election campaign.
